Not so sure he wants to spend the money to widen the moat. Once you widen the moat, you have to make the drawbridge longer to reach across the wider moat. But that means you have to completely rebuild the part of the castle where the drawbridge rests in the up position. It is going to take a lot more than just removing some dirt around the castle.
