Maybe the psychics all saw the comfy seats and wide aisle and knew this wasn’t really a plane at all and was not going anywhere.

Yeah; well, it often works that way, too. I NEVER get on a commercial airliner that is only 1/3 full.

Reminds me of the DC-10 flight I took, too long ago to remember when. But, instead of an aisle with 2 seats on each side, it had 2 such aisles (seats in a 2-4-2 configuration). If you aren’t familiar with it, the DC-10 had a few structural issues (this documents some of them) – I think my flight was shortly after one of the incidents. I’m not sure what the capacity was; but there were only 2 other passengers, i.e., 2-3 flight attendants per passenger.

I think it was in Terry Pratchett’s first disc world novel, “The Color of Magic,” where a psychic sees a big fire engulfing the city and her own death and tries to escape by heading out of town on the next coach. In an ironic twist the fire did occur but no one was killed in the fire, in fact the only strange death that night was the psychic who was killed when her coach overturned in an accident and she was the only passanger killed.

Commercial flights are far more safe than in passenger cars.

I always wonder why psychics never hit the lottery. Then there was the story Paul Harvey told of the psychic who had a crystal ball in her shop’s front window — right up to the day the fire department came to extinguish her burning place. Surely a psychic should have known that putting a crystal ball in a window that faced the sun would lead to the focusing of the sun’s rays on the carpet on the floor, to the point where the carpet would inevitably go up in flames.
