To paraphrase the old saying, nobody looks back in old age and wish they had done more homework.

At the very least, he’ll be healthier when he’s really old, because he really enjoyed being active when he was young.

Mix it in a well balanced way, long term and very long term!!

Please go somewhere else with your appalling attitude to life.

For many of us, we find Calvin and Hobbes to be funny and uplifting. Plus , it is only a comic strip after all is said and done.

Hobbes isn’t pretend. Watterson tells us, in the Tenth Anniversary book, that Hobbes’ dual nature is about the subjective nature of reality. Calvin sees Hobbes one way, and the rest of the world sees him another way. Hobbes is definitely not part of Calvin’s psyche.

And in the medium term, he can think back on sledding as he’s waiting in the principal’s office.

Love Watterson’s philosophy of life. But balance must be achieved in life. Where there is play, there is also responsibility. The pride in accomplishing school work will be rewarding when viewed from old age. … LOL! just kidding! More sleigh riding! Forget school. The time comes when you are too old to ride, then it’s time for school.

There might not be a long term if he hits any trees.

Ahhhh youth!

His sled has steering, he should never run into trees.

He can do both, there are plenty of hours in the day. He can study for an hour, then play outside for an hour.

Funny, Calvin’s got to be the smartes 6 yr old ever.. Yet he fails at school. He has a huge vocabulary and show that he knows math when it comes to money and hours of television.. What a character I love him :)

On its surface Calvin and Hobbes does appear to be about a boy with no friends and a stuffed Tiger, but if you read it awhile you discover it’s actually about philosophy, and life.

I will add:What is life?What do you want from it?If you get injured during football, old age is painful.So, you’d better vividly remember, all those school girls.Re-done knees, hips, etc.Lost hearing, eyesight, mind, teeth, appetite. No booze. smokes. women, etc.He’s lucky he can see the TV, hear it, or read the buttons to turn it on.He only wants a new body, for Xmas!He was 6’-4", 220#.A college grad.

Memories aren’t necessarily going to make him happier. Plus, you can always make new ones.
