Restaurants past security? No problem. When I’m meeting a minor, a family w/ kids, or an elderly traveler, I go to their airline’s counter, identify the person and flight number and get a security pass to meet them at the gate.
When I was very little, my parents would drive to the Eugene Airport with me, my aunt, uncle and cousin just to sit and watch the occasional plane take off or land. That was big entertainment!

@nighthawk; it would indeed make a boring day very eventful. But I must tell you that, to my regret, I have discovered there are worse things than boredom. Much worse.

Ash your not the only one my own kids now adults doesn’t have a cool grandma.

At SFO there are restaurants both inside and outside the secure areas.
jmd4lsu, it’s been mentioned, but only by us commentators. The question hasn’t arisen yet in the strip, but I’m sure it will soon.

The Cartoonist is from Eugene, Oregon (I think). Oregon anyway. Airport is in the middle of a marsh with cows grazing nearby.

Actually, strangely, unbelievably, the Eugene Airport has great food and pies to die for. We used to go just to eat! Weird huh?

In Singapore, we go the airport just to eat. xD Alix and Holly are giddy with excitement over Gramma coming back!
