Agreed. Most ominous. Cap’n Eddie almost looks sober.

But Pauly doesn’t seem to care. Typical cat.

I knew they should have checked with Captain Eddie before opening that shed!

Turning and turning in the widening gyre The falcon cannot hear the falconer; Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand; Surely the Second Coming is at hand. The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert A shape with lion body and the head of a man, A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun, Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds. The darkness drops again; but now I know That twenty centuries of stony sleep Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle, And what rough beast, its hour come round at last, Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

    The Second Coming

    by William Butler Yeats

Heh, thought this was going to be one of those mind-loop stories where it turns out Danae locked Ekert in the shed to keep her negative thoughts but had forgot she did so because Ekert ate that thought before being shut in! As for Eddie’s involvement, hard to imagine where that will go but it will be fun to find out!

…Hardly are those words out When a wee image out of Shed Mundi Troubles my sight: somewhere in the grass of the woods A shape with elephantine body and wings of a bee, A gaze glad and fanciful as the rainbow, Is smiling vapidly, while all about it Reels Cap’n Eddie who knows the awful truth.

    You like poems?

There once was a thing in the shed Who would eat the thoughts out of your head. When Danae let it out Cap’n Eddie did shout. Soon we just might all be dead.

But I wouldn’t shout, squirm or swear. For to Bean-town it took to the air. It could never be fed by the thoughts in those heads. For in Boston there are no thoughts there!

I’m guessing the ekert grows every time it eats negative thoughts, and so will grow to a HUMONGOUS size, considering our world is SO positive…

Scaaty I agree. I think the Ekert has appeared in the Sunday “Homer” strips, but my Way Back Machine is broken.

This is getting scary, Wiley. With Cap’n Eddie fussed we should all be frightened!

The girls didn’t let the Ekert out. It was an accidental happening because of Petey chasing the squirrel. Don’t blame the girls Eddie, blame the joker who blocked the door with a board. When is Ekert going to find a mate and start multiplying? You know, 2 times 2 equals four, etc.

Ekert got weak from starvation during a period that started with the summer of love, and Eddie was able to lock him away in December ‘69. Right before the Altimont Motor Speedway incident and the Beatles break up.

Remember, Captain Eddie regards baseball, especially Red Sox baseball a religion. Thus the Eckert must be the Devil himself!

    Sheik,

THANK you for that bit of splendid poetry.

I am SO using that for an audition monologue, and with a Peter O’Toole vibe.

As for Ekert, may he descend on Keith Olberman and his ilk, et. al.

This could be a good thing!
