I thought most toasters popped up the bread automatically.

Calvin is more burned up about it than the toast is!

Calvin hasn’t realised yet that for some unfathomable reason, most toasters come with 6 settings; 1 warms the bread, 2 makes pale gold toast, 3 makes dark toast and 4-6 make charcoal.

Figuring that Calvin might get some of his vocabulary from his Dad, I’m struggling to imagine where in a Patent Attorney’s practice this might come up..Deliberate patent infringement I suppose. Still, it’s hard to imagine Calvin’s Dad making heated arguments in court.

Yes, the toaster chose Calvins toast to be burned. It was a toaster plot.

My toaster reportedly has a “bread brain”. Hard to tell what use it is.

There are 3 kinds of toaster. One believes it can tell the color by monitoring the temperature of the bread and opens it at that temperature. White and warm to burnt black is just a few degrees and the temperature change is sudden. One is a basic timer. Some just have a heating element and don’t care if you watch it or not.

I absolutely love burnt toast. But I love toast even when it’s not burned.

I don’t think I could live without it.

In my experience, most toasters are pretty benign—they only really burn toast when they are getting old and don’t work so well anymore.

    .

It’s the computers that are really malicious.
