I’m reminded of a cartoon I never saw (my brother-in-law described it to me) where a large, ornate zero is being ferried in an elaborate sedan chair being carried by six or eight hunky attendants. People are prostrating themselves in front of the chair and throwing garlands of flowers in its direction. Two observers watch this display; one asks the other, “Is nothing sacred?”
