Due to the legislative changes by Congress in 2010 – ObamaCare – multiple jobs is the norm. Every time Congress imposes new obligations the workers suffer.

The laws prohibiting employment discrimination against seniors and people with disabilities led to substantially higher unemployment rates among those groups – they can never get the job in the first place, because the litigation risks of firing them are too great.

Raising the minimum wage mostly has the effect of preventing young people from getting a first job. The teen African-American unemployment rate in the late 1940s – when the legal minimum wage was below the market rate – was one-sixth the rate it is today. Leftists believe they can command a particular desirable result in the market; the only result they can obtain is a diminishing economy.

“There are things more important than money.” I tried that line on my landlord and it didn’t go over well….

Don’t ever say “There are things more important than money” around the boss.
