I think Obama was looking at what happened with the Exxon-Valdez spill–20 years of litigation and a conservative supreme court finally said that the award was too much. That really screwed a lot of people and small business owners in Alaska. BP cut corners on this project, as they have so many times before, to maximize their profits. Ignoring the safety rules cost people their livelihoods and some their lives. Obama tried to make sure that BP could not stall their way out of compensating victims. BP got off easy. Some BP exec should do jail time. Look at the latest issue of Chemical & ‘engineering News for a good detailed account of this mess.

Good for Obama. A “shakedown” of BP in this case is like calling the arrest of Al Capone a “shakedown.” Deal with it, folks, it’s called law and order! You do wrong, you pay for it. Strange how conservatives have such a hard time with this…when it’s done by a Democrat against one of the GOP’s major contributors…

    Teabagger logic:

A shakedown is when a Democratic President demands money from an oil company to offset the cost of cleaning up a mess they made.

A shakedown is NOT when a Republican state administration ( under Sarah Palin ) demands money from oil companies, and passes it out to the local residents.

LOL! The Republicans are known masters of the shake down–just not for those benefiting “the little people”!

ANandy, how do you expect to be taken seriously when you are rude an insolent in your comments? I am sick of all the drama and distortions and this continual picking away at a decent man who just happens not to be the guy you wanted elected. We all need to start showing respect for each other even if we disagree.

“But it IS strange that we don’t see a single comment about the NC Dem who attacked a “student” reporter on the DC sidewalk. ………”

I saw a comic on that. I’ve also seen it on the Daily Show.

“A shakedown is when a Democratic President demands money from an oil company to offset the cost of cleaning up a mess they made.

A shakedown is NOT when a Republican state administration ( under Sarah Palin ) demands money from oil companies, and passes it out to the local residents.”

    You win this thread.

I was living in Arizona when Governor Ev Mecham announced that the state would not participate in celebrating the MLK Holiday.

This decision was applauded by a number of hard-core conservatives I knew, including my employer at the time, all of whom proceeeded to denounce Martin Luther King, referring to him variously as a ‘radical’, a ‘fake preacher’, a ‘womanizer’, and a ‘Communist’.

Now, those were the terms they used in mixed company, but when it was nobody here but us white boys, out came ANOTHER set of words to describe Dr. King. ( Which I won’t repeat here. )

So when I come here and see ANandy using words like Bozotus, and “Chicago politician’ when referring to President Obama…I have to wonder, what words does he use for the President when he’s not posting on a public forum?

Given his background and his hateful demeanor, it’s not all that hard to guess.

“… liar BozOTUS who claimed the House Health Care Bill would not automatically provide taxpayer paid health care to illegal aliens in our Country”

Which bill is that, ANandy? Because the bill it passed does not “automatically” provide healthcare to immigrants. The bill you may refer to was a draft, one of the several possible bills forged, then smelted and remade, iirc in the House. That part didn’t make it out and hasn’t existed even in theory for nearly a year.

http://tinyurl.com/ycpnq5f has something on it. http://tinyurl.com/n7rllk has the factcheck on that statement from as far back as last year. Too liberal for you? http://tinyurl.com/2wwubtc , third paragraph - it directly states that illegal immigrants are not entitled to healthcare. The possible exception - emergency treatments - existed already.

Let me put it straight - what you consider the defining statement for “liar Obama” is itself a lie on YOUR part.

Funny–ANandy seems to think “Newbys” are unable to “immediately grasp” the goings on of this thread…how utterly naive of one to assume such.

Perhaps the keyboard I’m resting upon has typed in the gocomics Editorial Cartoon site for quite some time.

Perhaps I’ve just now decided to join in after only reading the comments on said site for quite some time.

Or, perhaps–“Time goes, you say? Alas, no. Time stays, we go.”

    Uhhhh, ANinny…

Several members (including Pelosi) were able to prove their whereabouts on the days the CIA was saying that they briefed them on water boarding.

The health insurance overhaul will not provide illegals with healthcare (or any of us for that matter). Please point the part where it says it will.

And yes, the SCOTUS decision can and will allow foreign companies to money bomb our system. All they have to do is open an American Subsidiary and BAM: First Amendment rights!

I for one, would enjoy a clinical observation of the psychiatric evaluation of ANandy’s pathos.

An impressive amount of angst emanates from her persona.
