Say hello to the Chinese with their suit cases full of money.
If they get they contracts, you can bet your bottom dollar that not a single Afghan will be employed. They’ll trash the place and as soon as they lose 1 Yuan, they’ll be gone, leaving the mess behind.
And all this time I thought it had more to do with the fact that Afghanistan is the shortest route for an oil pipeline between the oilfields in Turkmenistan and the deep water port at Karachi. Because the U.S. would never invade another country over something as petty as oil, right? Say, how long before we rescue the Venezuelans from the the horror of Hugo Chavez (and his nationalized oil fields)?
The Chinook class ahead of mine all went to Afghanistan –in 1966! We got kicked out. But we knew what was “under the surface” there at the time. OUR mistakes in south and southeast Asia, are profound indeed.

UK’s Independent has an article on this discovery today. Copper, gold, iron, cobalt and vast amounts of lithium…a key component in batteries….
Not a short-term pay-off for the Afghanis or whoever moves in when Dems pull the US forces out….
A very good alternative for Afghanis we want to stop growing opium flowers!
And maybe a good reason for them to Unite against the Taliban anti-progressives of civilization!
