Jeri either recognized the envelope as the type invitations are sent in (and thought she would miss something “fun”) or recognized the return address being Candy’s (and thought it might be a scheme to “steal” Johnson’s affection). Teeth marks would indicate, to me, a somewhat violent response to the envelope’s arrival.
