The summer heat never bothered me when I was a kid. I was outside playing most all the time….except when it was raining. Now that was boring.

Grog: some of the best times we had as kids was playing pickup games of baseball in the rain, as long as there was no lightening it was all good

Doc, I was the same way. I could create a fantasy out of any situation. Maybe it helps that I was an only child.

I’ve turned into a terrible, grumpy old man who assigns his kids chores if they come to me, especially during the summer, and say “I’m bored.” My response: “Good. You must not have enough chores to do.” That gets them outside on the swings or on their bicycles really fast.

And yeah. Playing outside in the rain never bothered us. In fact, it still doesn’t bother me. If it’s raining and the kids come in, I go outside on purpose and putter around. Makes the neighbors question my sanity.
