In Islamabad, the gum is given to the teacher unintentionally.

Did Haraguchi-san recite the pi digits in English (one, two, three, etc.) or in Japanese (ichi, ni, san, etc.) in those 16½ hours? How did he even take a breather?

I’ll bet he gave some of those students impromptu haircuts just to get that gum.

Yeah, but rare stamps can be worth a lot of money. And they’re not gross. You can’t cash in on used gum. And who knows what kind of diseases he picked up with chewed up gum from students?

What an educator.

At a middle school I used to go to on an air force base in England we had a gum tree. Literally a tree with a trunk covered in old gum from students years before me and probably years after me.

Never mind the guy who could Recite that many digits of PI from Memory.How about the person who could Stay Awake long enough to Verify his accuracy ???.

That teacher couldn’t do the gum thing in Singapore !!
