Holly: Alix is such a CHILD. Running around the yard making up goofy games...
Val: And you're too grown-up for that?
Holly: SNORT
YES.
Val: Then it must be time for YOU to find a job!
Holly: Who wants to build a fort?!
my kids want their summer jobs, nice to have some money you earn yourself. The city offers gardening jobs for kids from 14-16 years old, my 14 year old is starting next week :) Only 3 weeks this year though, because of the kreppa - used to be about 5 weeks (and our kids get 2 1/2 months summer holiday).
But Holly isn’t 14 yet. :-) My oldest went out and found herself a job whne she was 13. We were conflicted, but decided to be proud of her resourcefullness. She’s an adult now and I have never been quite sure i shouldn’t have had her wait just a bit longer to join the workforce. So—enjoy that fort Holly!
I started working at age 13, and so did all three of my children…(summers and weekends, etc.) My parents couldn’t afford to give me an allowance, as there were seven children in my family.
That’s what I envy the most large families. I was born in a small family of four. Grown now my husband wanted only two kids I would not mind 3 though never happen. Must be nice when kids get together if theres no fighting.
Holly enjoy being young while you can.
