It could be worse. It could be a Talkie Toaster.

I have often waved my hand in front of manual towel dispensers.

There are even automatic faucets, toilets, and soap dispensers these days.

My favorite is the motion sensor light switches. Supposed to save energy, right? Just walk in the room and the lights come on. After you leave, they go off. But they come on when you come in or move around even in the daytime, when you wouldn’t have turned them on, so how does that save energy? Also, they go off and the room goes dark if you don’t move around, so you have to get up and walk around to turn them back on. Stupid.

My job has the motion sensing paper dispensers; but I’d rather have a hydraulic seat-lifter…

I thought he was doing what I do around my toaster. I make motions like I have Mutant Super Hero powers of telekinesis and gesticulate with hands as if I’m causing the toast to pop up. Occasionally it will work!

At San Diego airport, they installed motion activated toilet flushers “to save water”. They work really well – flushed 3 times while I was using it!
