Dad: Hi! I'm Dan Spinnerack! I teach Cartoon Camp! Mom: This is Petey! He loves cartoons! Dad: Hi, Petey! Come on in and find a seat. Petey: Okay. Mom: Bye, Petey. I'll be back when you're through. Dan: Tell you what, Petey. Why don't you sit over here with the rest of the class? Petey: Okay.

Autism sure makes people antisocial.

The next three panels would probably be Petey still sitting in the corner.

This is going to be a very tough day for Dan Spinnerack, and for Petey, too….

C’mon Petey. Live a little. There’s only two of them.

I remember this story arc. The boy has his own sound effects, and the girl spontaneously ignites her own fireworks show!

Petey would rather be in a class by himself.

Don’t worry, Petey! I too was once a reclusive, anti-social shut-in. But Now! I sit in a room and comment on comics pages!

Our Aspie grandson actually joined a computer-games club when he got to college. One of his parents would pick him up after 9:00 p. m. so he could attend.

Spinnerack, cute!

Actually, I like the way that Spinnerack interacts with Petey. He doesn’t try to shame Petey, or act shocked, or ask him how he can learn anything while sitting across the room. He speaks to Petey as though he is carrying on a normal conversation. I think he may be used to students like this.

I don’t think Petey is autistic. Just a tad reserved.
