The 5 second rule for dropping food on the floor does not work if you have a 2 second dog.

I have 3 Aussies and a Border Collie. I’m lucky if a fight doesn’t break out over a lettuce leaf that fell on the floor.
Heck, it doesn’t even apply if you have a 10-second dog. Just leave it there till the dog finds it. Problem solved.
My dog Pretty Gigi (The dog in my profile pic) will come running as soon as she hears the food drop. It can be but a crumb dropping and she hears it. She also can be in another room and she will hear it drop and come running.
