That makes sense, The rich wouldn’t allow it to happen. But the life the way you see it is ideal. If those who work can be paid decently, say a crew of guys decide they want to fix bridges, and several more want to get the Amtrack lines updated, there ahould Ideally get paid to fix whatever needs fixing and have the funds available to do so. Really if the government would offer pay to those who know how to do something that needs doing that’s what should happen. That will probably take taxes. In the 50’s the super rich paid taxes at a rate of 90% and they had Cadilacs, diamonds, swimming pools and lived in manions. There was something known as caring, empathy and compassion, and work that was meaningful, people, men at least expected to be able to support their families so that moms could take care of their kids, and neighborhoods were more in touch with their neighbors. With politicians following Ayn Rand, and the eugenics programs such as Malthius, or Malthus, the idea became to make sure the " disabled, the old, the mentally ill and criminals, maybe just ugly people were also active back then, so this isn’t rose colored glasses. But hindsite lets us see the good in the past and also the bad, what we don’t learn from history can come bite us in the pants.

We will never get an big increase in taxes on the very rich because that would included the Clinton and those who pay him half a million dollars for a speech.

All politicians and famous people get paid big bucks to speak. To attack the Clintons for this is just plain stupid. But you are right, we will never see tax increases on the rich again, they own us and everything around us. if we tried to create a fair society they would shut down our infrastructure, our economy and our livlihood until we fell in line. Sadly, armed rebellion and going after the right targets are the only hope left and that, too, will destroy the country for a time.

Despite inheriting the peak of the Bush-era economic crash, jobs growth has been steady under Obama. Fiorina, on the other hand, caused widespread layoffs at HP and was eventually forced out because not only did workers and management come to loathe her, HP’s fortunes tanked under her. But I suspect that you’re not really interested in facts, are you?

This is true. Which is partly because of the globalizing structurations of labor that really started taking off under Reagan and hasn’t stopped. Fortunately we’ve got some jurisdictions now mandating a somewhat livable minimum wage. That needs to be taken nationwide. There’s no reason service jobs (or any other jobs) necessarily need to be low-paying; it’s just that they’ve generally arisen in non-unionized situations, and we’ve had a series of administrations—up to and including this one—that haven’t gone to bat for regular workers and have sometimes been actively hostile toward us.
