Brad and Toni will never get married because the only characters worth writing into the strip are Luann and Gunther!!

“This particular strip may show Miss Evan’s influence.”^If so, the “fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree”: According to many previous blogs and interviews, one being the old “construct- o- blog” (the Cartoonists’ Studio blog that Evans used to do), Evans said he “won’t back down” when it comes to depicting the issues that go on in regards to sex, but he also labeled himself as “one of those fathers” who doesn’t want to have to see it (taking place, a la 90210,etc.) everywhere….

Please note: If we cut the unwanted words “a touchy subject” out, and then allow Quill to finish Luann’s sentence as he wishes, using his new ending , we do not get a mood-killer idea at all. ,We get: “Sex can be a touchy subject critical to a mature, responsible relationship…It may be a bit stuffy in its wording, but saying that sex can be critical to a mature, responsible relationship is not IMO prudish, nor is it at all unrealistic.

Saying that “Sex can be critical to a mature, responsible relationship" is NOT in my opinion a mood-killer in fact. Quill is just playing with words ~ all talking is a sort of temporary cooling off..So I retract my earlier comment that “this particular strip may show Miss Evan’s influence.” I think this strip is consistent with the arc as a whole, and with Quill’s general attitude toward the care and handling of normal sex urges.

Luann has been studying up on Sexual responsibility for a long time. This is from January 4, 1996

Quill’s soft touch and gentlemanliness are just right for Luann at this stage of their relationship, which now has the opportunity to develop in good time in a positive way.

Why can’t Luann go back to being funny? Why all of this Young And The Restless or Days Of Our Lives nonsense when Soap Operas are on the way out?!

Haven’t they been together well over a year, if not almost two years, at this point? I’d say they’re more than ready.

Having lived outside this country from time to time, I am surprised at how prudish Americans are. That doesn’t mean they avoid sex, just that they are uncomfortable with the issue. But I am still glad that the Evans are having “their kids” show a little restraint. What exactly are the new boundaries?

So, the two of have set up Road Blocks, er I MEAN “Boundaries” Concerning Sex, Hmmm?Meanwhile, back in the Swamp Gunther and Tiff Recently Visited, the Salamanders are Going At It like Crazy!

Self control is one of the keys to a life of contentment. Through accepting our own limitations and the limitations of others, we gain their respect and trust and they gain our. One of the not so secrets to a happy life.

Brad and Toni are “doing it” and are not only boring, they’re nowhere to be seen. It is the sexual tension for Gunther and Rosa and Tiffany and for Luann and Quill that keeps things interesting. Should they? Did they? Will they?

Word play, the best foreplay. Gosh, I didn’t think Lu had the brains for our own game!*P.S. My month-long exclamation-mark fast ended!!!!!!

Mature? These guys are just out of high school. They have no idea…

While I understand some of the “Go for it!” comments on this story arc, they don’t seem realistic in the 21st century: despite the mainstream entertainment media being stuck in the freewheeling ’60s, that was half-a-century ago: kids/young adults tend to be — believe it or not — somewhat more cautious today. Just as we (boomers) disbelieved our elders, the young are more likely to disbelieve us - and probably with good reason ;)

Though this strip hits all the socially responsible notes well enough, I find myself unmoved and uninvolved . The Gunther and Tiffany comedic prequel drew me in to a much greater degree. There are no surprises in Luann and Quill’s sexual prudence and restraint. Respectable yes, definitely, but not as engaging as the tension of a boy and a gir’s confusion and arousal at the sex life of salamanders. That’s what I want to see:) But not Newts. I do not want to read about the sex life of Newt. Ever.

This strip and yesterday’s strips were really unrealistic. When I was in college, I had sex a few times with a now old boyfriend. Yeah things didn’t work out, but I’ll never forget our nights together.

I wonder whether Luann will be in this same art class, with Zebo, Emo, and Jock, next year too. (Is it assumed she will be in a time loop of attending a 2-year community college for the next 10 years or so, while Quill et al. remain sophomores at Mooney all the while?)

Greg is trying to keep it at least PG13 heh heh. Toni and Brad really didn’t have this conversation, I think. Certainly not Gunther and Rosa. Left to the imagination. Here is his central character. Perhaps there have been “rumors” he’s gotten. Clearing the air.

Thanks Greg for showing that young people can have a meaningful relationship without rushing into having a sexual relationship before they are truly ready for it.

the nice thing about this arc… but tomorrow could spoil it… is that Luann is sorting out something important without input from Nancy. Usually w/ serious issues, there’s some mother-daughter discussion. I hope there won’t be any tomorrow and that what’s between L and Q stays there.

I’m not sorry I waited. I am an independent, maybe a bit old fashioned, but I saw so many of my sorority sisters “ruined” the guys didn’t seem to want to marry the “fast girls” they were popular, and those who "had ot get married…. most haven’t lasted.

And Brad has no friends other than TJ. Since basically the only people who will attend this wedding are Brad and Toni’s co-workers in the Fire Department plus a handful of friends and family, it seems inevitable that it will wind up being held in one or another of Pitt’s FD facilities. This has been totally obvious to absolutely everyone from day one, except for the two people involved. Their obliviousness is what makes it clear they aren’t in any position to be starting a family together.

Why would they stop here and freak out if they’ve touched each other’s privates? Their undergarments were still on.
