The concept of taking humans and placing them on planets which do not sustain life was originally created by “Fernando and his wife Marian”. This is one of their many methods they used to destroy the humans they created in their humanities; other methods are: described in Queens song ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, and the concept of ‘groups of thugs’ or ‘members of gangs’ or ‘bullies’ attacking the helpless.
Interesting how the point Ramirez was making was how low the approval ratings are for Congress and it’s become a discussion on life outside our world. You guys crack me up - but you’re right. Discussion on life outside our world (including Martian pond scum) IS a lot more interesting than discussing the tanking of Congress’ ratings.
^ Should I enter into this can of worms? I don’t know what you’ve read or not of late, but RV is mad because you (or someone using your moniker) accused him of making a racist comment that he didn’t make. Exactly how it all happened is still unclear, at least to me. I like RV and and I like you, and I don’t want the two of you to be at loggerheads. Along the way NeoconMan and English Teacher got into it, and RV believes that all three of you are sock puppets of a single author. (For all I know he’s right, but I don’t know, and I don’t care.) Evidently he now thinks that SherriannPederson is a fourth sock puppet. ET apologized. There was some concern because just at that time you disappeared from view. That’s my version. Others may have different versions. Probably I have just put my big stupid foot in my big stupid mouth. But I meant well.
Dr.Canuck…See the Kallaugher ‘Toon with the Chinese Dragon that can’t spell “nuclear”. RV did manage to get his theory spammed on every cartoon that you had a comment left on. (assuming you’re not a sock-puppet of course.)
Bloody ^ pointers slipped me up twice yesterday, By the time I posted, someone else had posted just before so my ^ pointer is one short. My last comment was in response or a continuation of Lonecat’s post. My post has now been re-edited to point to the correct post.
I don’t ponder about the possibility of the sockpuppetability of folks around here.
RV– I sympathize with your distress at the charge that was made against you. Such a comment would have been entirely out of character for you. I don’t for a minute believe that you made the comment, and I can understand why you would be shocked and outraged that it would be attributed to you.
But I have been unwilling to find DrC guilty without hearing his side. Now we hear that he says he didn’t do it. DrC can be pretty in-your-face, but I’ve never seen him back down when he thinks he’s right or fail to apologize when he realizes that he’s been wrong.
Classes in Canadian universities have been over for about a month. I taught my last class on the 5th of April, and my wife taught her last class on the 31st of March. So DrC seems to know about the Canadian academic year.
My own opinion, for what it’s worth, is that DrC really is DrC. Too much of what he has said fits this persona. He may take on other personae, though I doubt that he is ET. I don’t care that much, but I doubt it. They just don’t use language the same way.
I didn’t interpret NeoconMan’s comment as an admission that he is four characters. But maybe that’s what he meant. Perhaps he will explain.
Who cares “if” there’s life on other planets? Unless they’re 1) intent on our destruction or 2) going to offer something for us to end this spiral of self destruction, they’re simply irrelevant.
I think it would be really exciting to find out that there’s life on other planets. Even more exciting if there’s life in other solar systems. Even more exciting if it turns out that there’s intelligent life in other solar systems. Even more exciting if it turns out that there’s intelligent life on earth.
I just zone out on the pictures from the Hubble telescope. There’s something so awesome (and I mean the word the way it used to mean) in the immensity of everything. Wowzie!
But the distances are so great that barring some really fundamental discovery that will change our whole understanding of physics we ain’t goin’ there.

You are right, it is a philosophical hole - Einstein was beginning to wonder about that very dilemma - just before his passing.

I wonder, if there are aliens watching us, do they report back that they have found life on Earth, but they are yet sure if it is Intelligent!
