English major. With math you had to get the right answer.

If I were to take the SAT’s again after these few decades, I’d probably score 800 in English, but about ten minutes into the math portion they’d break my #2 pencil and drag me out of the room.

Definitely math (which is why I quickly recognized that there is a lot more than Algebra on that board.

English, always English. I have been known to hand total strangers my checkbook to ask them how much money I have. (Back in the days before debit cards.)

Well no wonder he got a “D”. His teacher asked him to solve for “x”, not prove “String Theory”.

Came across this in my travels from Calvin and Hobbes yesterday:

Hobbes GoComics PRO Member said, 1 day ago

To all Calvin and Hobbes readers:

GoComics has contacted me this past week, and they have requested that I provide a link to their comic strip archive every time that I post a comic strip here in the future, in order to help them generate more revenue.

I am concerned that GoComics is struggling financially, and I would like to encourage all of you to consider upgrading to a GoComics Pro membership, for 99 cents a month, if you can afford it. It is a real bargain.

By purchasing a Pro membership, you will no longer have to view the pop-up ads on GoComics, and you will receive several other benefits. For a list of the Pro benefits, please click on the link below. To upgrade to a Pro membership, click on the link below and then scroll down to click on “Upgrade Now.”

I would also like to encourage everyone to visit the GoComics archives frequently. Every time you click on a GoComics page, or return to your current GoComics page, or refresh a page, or click on an ad, you are helping GoComics to obtain more advertising revenue.

Thank you very much for your consideration. We all receive a lot of benefit from this site, and we all have a stake in its financial success. Please do as much as you can to help GoComics.

Please feel free to share this information with other GoComics readers who do not post on Calvin and Hobbes.

    — Hobbes

I will go along with that sentiment, been a PRO since I started here in 2008. WELL WORTH THE INVESTMENT! 99 cents a month! Can’t beat that! And even if they raise the price, it wouldn’t be by much, and it would still be worth it.

“What were your grades in them?”.Mostly “A’s”; however as I recall, I did get a “B” in English Literature..I did fail Calculus in college. On my final, the prof failed me because I didn’t express the equation correctly on the exam. I asked him if the answer was correct and he said it was and he didn’t care if I had the correct result, only if I expressed it correctly!.In “Star Trek” terms, I would consider this the “Kobayashi Maru”; i.e., “the no win scenario”…

Great in English, I loved to read. Terrible in math.We moved in the 2nd, 5th, and 7th grade and they either had learned the math or hadn’t yet in those grades, so I missed out on a lot of basics.
