In panel 4 of today’s Calvin and Hobbes, note that Calvin has magical hair. When he turns to speak to the reader, his hair doesn’t turn with him. It continues to point to the right.

Try blowing bubbles using nitroglycerin, You’ll get a bang out of it.

Just who does he think he’s talking to? Maybe Hobbes isn’t his only imaginary friend. Maybe he imagines that he’s in a comic strip, and there are imaginary people who read this strip on-line every day.Maybe he’s real, and we aren’t.

Yesterday I was surprised how much of a ‘boom’ I could get just by dropping a hardcover book on the floor—as long as it lands nearly flat. :)

Hunter7 said, about 9 hours ago@whalemanI was reminded of the strip “9 Chickweed Lane” where the wearing of certain undergarments rendered the wearer …. a feeling of being able to tackle any task. And as we all know… attitude goes a long ways.

So if Calvin believes the underpants are lucky. Then they are lucky.

Don’t you have something that when you wear or hold or think about makes you feel more confident?

    That Depends

@midas: But, if Calvin were looking at you, then the name of the strip would have to be Calvin and Midas Welby. Just doesn’t have the same ring to it……

@phylum,“with a feeling that I’m gonna love you to the end of time.”That’s what Calvin wants to sing to Susie.

“So with vigor and vim and vipIt’s a pleasure to take a sipof a cold Nedick’s orange drink.”Calvin’s little “bip” reminded me of this old jingle from around 1950 when I listened to New York City basketball games, especially the Knicks. “Be one, be Knick, be one.”

@LeadingEdge,KA-POW!!! Batman doesn’t do “bip”. Calvin’s a wimp, in comparison, even as Spaceman Spiff.

I knew a science teacher who would blow bubbles with a small amount of natural gas mixed into the air – then hit them with a lighter.

It might not have been much to you, Calvin, but I’m quite sure a mosquito passing by is now deaf.
