It was the “P.S. really” that made the note unbelievable.

Sure Calvin, it was the absence of cursive writing that doomed this effort to failure. Stick with that line of reasoning.

I would like to think that cursive is dead.My writing skills were always hopeless until I started using word processors in the early 1980s.

Unreadable writing is a required course to enter medical school.

As Ms. Wormwood might add, “Sit down and you’ll learn to write in cursive.”

Ms. Wormwood may be responsible for the next terrorist attack…while spiff is held hostage…

See, school administrators? THIS is why we still need to teach cursive in schools!

Reading the comics can be educational. Today we learned that the President of the United States writes on wide-ruled notebook paper.

My daughter is in 4th year Med School and can’t write cursive……its just so 20th Century. Calvin is just ahead of his time.

Let’s see, so Calvin needs to learn something to help him avoid one place where something can be learned… hmmm a conundrum if ever there was one!
neverenoughgold almost 9 years ago
I’d like to think otherwise, but I can see Calvin doing time for forgery some time in the future…
neverenoughgold almost 9 years ago
I tend to agree with those who are disappointed schools today don’t place much emphasis on cursive skills; however one needs to keep in mind, we rarely read or write via candlelight these days either…

“Signed, Epstein’s mother.”

Considering Calvin’s present state of mind, soon he will be writing in curses.

Miss Wormwood even reads the fine print. …cursive, ‘foiled’ again! Calvin has been ‘aluminumated’.

I used to be very fast at cursive, but these days I only use it to write checks and sign my name.

I assume Calvin doesn’t see the irony… that he has to pay attention in class in order to slack off in class

Teacher still wearing the same dress. Don’t they pay you enough to buy more clothes.

Calvin and half the school kids in the US, now. They don’t even bother teaching a lot of kids how to “write” anymore.

It is enough for the corporate junta that the public can read their edicts. Being able to write might encourage them to form independent opinions and realize they are but serfs in the new feudalism.
barb_herb almost 9 years ago
Yeah, cursive. The only way to write!

@What ? Me Worried?: We also don’t know whether the president wrote with a pen, pencil, or crayon.
Number Three almost 9 years ago
Calvin isn’t so much of a genius if he thought that Miss Wormwood would fall for that one!

I don’t think the president’s name is P.S. Really.
rickray777 almost 9 years ago
Well, teachers are pretty sharp, Calvin. Even if you DID learn to write in cursive at this early age, she’d INSTANTLY be able to tell your handwriting from that of a truly-official Presidential letter!
rickray777 almost 9 years ago
Oh, and besides which, how often does a U.S. President write special letters to six-year-olds for School Board members to excuse them from their classes? I mean, Really!

In my time a persons handwritings revealed their personality. It could be analyzed, because it was unique to that individual. How do you dot your i’s for example. If you used the letter before or after, you were intelligent. If you wrote one way you were a liar, someone not to be trusted. Everyone was unique in the way they wrote. No two people were identical. It was art.

Cursive is difficult to read quickly and just kind of pointless.
