See? That trip to Peru ( and to the mountains) was indeed of benefit to Gunther…he learned something, in “taking a chance” and in that experience- and perahps some other neat little “life tips” that he may not have learned, had he stayed in his “safe and statistically calculated little cocoon”…. – And, as a bonus, he got to drive Tiffany’s " Red Dream" convertible!!! – And as soon as it all hardens, Tiff’s got a new pair of “mud boots”!

Did Gunther just get into the left side of the car? But he doesn’t even have a driver’s license, does he? And where are the salamanders they were suppose to collect? And is Tiffany really going to get mud all over that upholstery?

It’s funny , when Gunther could said “Right, more weirdness not needed” he could have come off as: (A) a confident grown man enjoying the humor of the situation, or, (B) a chastised little boy feeling ashamed because his mommy, or any woman for that matter, caught him doing something wrong.

anyone care to guess, was it (A) or was it (B)? (hint: just look at the expression on that poor boy’s face)

Moral of the story, giving up plaid and growing a scruffy half ass excuse for a beard does not a man make.

But never mind, after the potentially erotic sensation of rubbing Tiffanies legs with mud, Gunther’s probably feeling a lot of confusing, and probably new, emotions right about now. Hope it doesn’t interfere with his driving.

In Iran/Persia a lot, in North Africa a good deal, etc. Just picturing him was not offensive to many groups in Islam. Of course ridicule is another matter. The Russians put out a lot of atheistic cartoon books in Central Asia during the Soviet era. Mohammed always had a very big nose, much as Jews were ridiculed by Russians during that era.

This is why I was reasoning that he likely could have had his license in the interim, sometime during his HS years…at least between his Senior year and now (post HS, 19-20), but may not have had his own car, yet: – – – He mentions to Rosa that he “plans to get a car soon”… t’would do no good to plan on purchasing even a “hoopty” and not be able to use it yet (especially when you’re a “careful planner”, such as Gunther)… – He then mentions to Tiffany that his mom “doesn’t have deep pockets”, so it could be reasoned that his mom was as yet unable to afford it…he could have went to the DMV, practiced on someone’s car, and was able to pass the written and demonstration portions… – Now, it’s also possible as Brd and others mention, that he is in the learning phase, waiting to “graduate” to the official license. Which could mean that tomorrow, they get into a “Saved By The Bell” situation, and wreck something along the way. But I doubt that Gunther would be that confident enough to offer to get behind the wheel of Tiffany’s Porsche, especially if it’s an “unfamiliar” drive to him (handling, speed, etc), without being a tad bit “shaky” and “sweating” just a bit…(of course, this is only my particular take, but this is to “elaborate” upon something I had posted earlier..

In my generation most kids learned to drive in the family car, and when they needed to use a car for some reason, had to convince Mom or Dad to let them use a family car. It was perfectly normal for a kid to have a driver’s license but no car. I imagine that’s still the case for at least some families today – particularly single-parent families.

We had driver’s ed in my high school too, with a car equipped with dual pedals. However, there was no possible way you could learn to drive just from the couple of hours a week devoted to that training (which you had to share with 3 other students, all taking turns at the wheel). You had to learn primarily in your family car, drivers’ ed or not. We have never seen Gunther driving Mrs. B.’s car, even in circumstances when you would expect it. It is thus rather a mystery how and when Gunther learned to drive, and just how much (if any!) he has ever driven since receiving his license.

“Why is that so hard to accept?” ^I don’t think the issue here is “acceptance”. I am referring to the Fire Ant. Not the others. The mandible of a Fire Ant is slightly different from those others. I wasn’t speaking of those other bites. You are now bringing them up. You are using them for proving that there are bites that aren’t so impactful. The original issue wasn’t whether or not there are non-painful bites… the issue (and the only issue) was on fire ants ….there is/was no debate about any others….

Here. Take a look at this link. And here is a quote from that page:

“After about 10 seconds of climbing, they will bite your skin. Interestingly (now, point of emphasis:) , although everyone complains about fire ant bites, (and continuing:) they are actually among the least of your worries, because it is the sting that comes next that really hurts. They bite the skin in order to get a good grip so they can inject their stinger through the skin. If you are fast, you can dislodge or kill the fire ants before they have time to sting.

After the female fire ant has anchored herself by biting into the skin with her mandibles, she then tucks her abdomen, which includes the stinger, under herself and plunges it into the skin. The ant’s stinger then deposits a small amount of venom into the hapless victim."

    – I was speaking of the bite. As I said, their sting is much worse. But even as this shows, it doesn’t mean that their bite is not of any substance. That’s what I was saying. That’s all I was saying. What I was saying wasn’t erroneous, just not expressed in the way that you may have understood (as far as what I was saying is concerned, that is)….
