I for one no longer trust those cfl bulbs at all….I’ve never had one yet that lasts as long as they say it will.I once had one in a lamp in my living room that caught on firewhen I switched it on… It made about a two foot high flamenear the ceiling for a short time.. Lucky I was at home to put the thing out and not have the thing plugged into anautomatic timer while I was gone. Now I always unlug thelamp from the timer before I leave for work.. Like I said,I don’t trust the new cfl bulbs after that incident happened. Can’t remember what brand it was so now I’m tryingout the more costly led bulbs and haven’t had any problemas yet.

What was wrong with the old regular incandescent bulbs? You didn’t have all sorts of warnings on them to not vacuum up the broken bulb (CFLs do due to the mercury!). Now instead of a 50 cent bulb that was fine, we have $5 – $10 bulbs that are environmental hazards.

I bought up all the 100 watt bulbs I could find at Minards.

zippycats: Wow, 100w when 75w is adequate and 35w (LED) is possible! The local private profit electrical rip-off monopoly should give you a propaganda discount (but I bet they don’t).
