Or was the computer just having a little fun with Nancy? – Actually, sometimes it’s just a matter of not focusing right,or trying too hard to look at the problem- and then sometimes it just takes “calling in the calvary” that the problem gets a little clearer in your mind to solve…. – It also works for tightly capped pickle jars, bank ledgers, and on special occaisions, locating car keys….. – And if all else fails with your computer, they make a special reboot tool, that’s very handy… but some people just call it a hammer…..

I at times am like my ancestral Amish relatives as described by Alfred Yankovic: technologically impaired.

Aah, but if it was a video or multimedia file, what happens when there is no sound for it? Surely it can’t be the “mute” or “volume” buttons. That would be too obvious… it must be something else….

I am terrified by the amount of useless junk that teens download onto their computer choking the life out of it.^Or the fact that they are just one “share” click away from unleashing more “duck face” …..

Not necessarily. There’s a setting that allows you to highlight a file just by hovering the cursor over it and select it with a single click. I used to use it until I started having trouble selecting files in groups.

Think Nancy’s expression is one of surprise ? Just wait till Luann tells her Mom that she’s going to NYC with Quill (she’s sure not gonna tell her Dad)

Generally, you just shut the *#&%@ thing down, take a snack break, read the newspaper, walk the dog, etc. Then come back, turn it back on, and it works OK (the alien cosmic dust having gone elsewhere).

Usually when this happens to me it’s because the computer is doing some sort of “maintenance” in the background that makes it sluggish. Microsoft needs to work on that “in the background” stuff because it doesn’t stay there.

You’d be surprise how many paychecks I collect as a technician by simply being called in to “scare” a machine into operation.

It is actually kind of fun to look forward to how you can imagine some sort of impending divorce slant to every Sunday comic featuring Frank & Nancy. Very funny extrapolation!

In my 30+ years in computer support services, I have found that when I threaten to sing, computers fall right into line – even those that have never seen me, including new units right out of the box.

I work in IT and very often get called over to look at a problem that mysteriously solves itself by the time I arrive. They always ask what it is that caused to not work, then suddenly start working. I always blame “Cosmic Rays”. It’s suitably pseudo-scientific enough that people believe me.
