Why give him a chance, he might succeed and then we have to go to plan R.

Thanks Martens. I didn’t know I agreed with an ex-CIA guy. His argument is better informed than mine, to be sure, but I think I have expressed exactly the same conclusions. Even if I disagreed with the article, I would have to think very hard about whether he was right about this. This was his job, after all, to assess this stuff. But I’m sure there will be those less well informed people who will disagree.

The real danger IS the hornblowers in the ‘toon. Let’s see Israel get rid of Netanyahu this month and, hopefully, take power from Likud and place it with more responsible parties in Israel. The real “hawk” in the Middle East is Bibi and his crew, a they’re actually scavenger/predator types taking land, destroying populations, with vicious tactics, and pulling that wool from their backs (hair shirts?) to blindfold the rest of the world.

interesting… i have one quibble though: after wwii we did not pull out, but stayed, helped to rebuild, and did what we could to prevent recurrence. the aftermath of wwi was avoided.

Festin, I agree 100% with your thoughts on Iran. It’s about time, too.
