Weren’t Morlocks from H.G.Wells novel The Time Machine? Or is this a reference to the Morlock who translated some of his plays?

    AAAAAGGGHHHH!!

It took a while…. but long after I decided not to post here tonight, some rusty old synapses finally fired…..

    Jules Verne and Shirley…it’s a loooooong stretch…..but that’s not a surprise, coming from Dan….

Plus I needed a bit of help from Google…. especially considering it was almost 40 years ago, AND I don’t think I’ve ever watched a whole episode….

Jules Verne and Shirley…Verne and Shirley….LAverne and Shirley!

    1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 Schlemiel! Schlimazel! Hasenpfeffer Incorporated!

Whew! And feel free to stop watching that video after the first 20 seconds or so….

And I have no idea why “Morlocks” is in there unless, as has been suggested, Dan has Jules Verne mixed up with HG Wells.

    Do I get a cookie?

Wow, I instantly got the Laverne and Shirley reference but, like Dan, didn’t catch that Morlocks are Wells, not Verne. Oops.

You folk are missing the point about the Morlocks. The hint is in ‘schlemiel’ …. meaning that the unlucky person never gets anything right.

Jonno…. nu?Sure, a schlemiel can be an unlucky person…. a schlimazel maybe even more so.

But the person reciting the rhyme wasn’t supposed to be the schlemiel or made to play the schlimazel….

I’m having problems getting the video clip I posted above to play…it says to try later. If it’s still not working and you actually want to see it,

    Try clicking here.

This one seems to be better quality anyway… but I didn’t want to take up space by embedding it twice, especially if the other comes back to life.

Louie from “Taxi” explained the difference: “A schlemiel will be at a fancy dinner party and spill his soup. A schlimazel will be the guy he spills his soup on!”

Lenny was played by Michael McKeen, One of my favorite comedy actors to this day…He was a member of Spinal Tap, he was in A Mighty Wind, Best Of Show…If he’s in it it’s worth the price of admission….He reminds me of an American Robert Kline….
