Reminded of scene from Bells Are Ringing where working class Ella is at a swank party at which many names are dropped – especially “Mary and Ethel” – first Pickford and Barrymore, then someone I’ve forgotten and Waters, then Martin and Merman. Ella finally drops her own “Mary and Ethel” – Schwartz and Hotchkiss.
