Mike: Isn't Zonker coming down for breakfast? Mark: He'll be down. His trainer just went up to get him. Mike: His trainer? Mark: Bernie. Ever since he helped Zonk win the Jack Ford Tanning Award, he's been fanatical about keeping on his schedule! Mike: But it's raining today. Mark: That won't stop Bernie! Bernie: Okay, champ, get the lead out! Zonker: Huh?

Zonker tanning story lines tend to be the least interesting ones. I’m tempted to take the week off.

We go from toasted bread slice to 1/2 bagel or English muffin to frozen waffle. Plus we even get the twist tie off the table and back onto the bag holding the loaf of bread, and Mike puts his coffee cup on the table, yet seemingly neither Mike nor Mark leaves the table. Spooky.

I always like the Zonker strips. Even when they didn’t make sense. And B.D.,Poopsie and Zonker – good. re: Yesterday’s strips and comments about pinsetters. Some things change at different rates. I didn’t start seeing automatic pinsetters for bowling until the very late 60’s and there were still places in the early 70’s that hadn’t converted. I remember many Saturdays bowling – and hearing more than once, someone yelling SORRY!. If you yelled quickly enough, it gave the pinsetter a chance to get out of the way in time.
