    As it’s Joan’s house, Phil’s use of the more inclusive “We” is simple politeness. It’s Joan’s Fireplace and wood, so she is to be consulted on whether or not a fire is built.

    (Besides, there’s still plenty to be said for shared body heat.)

    But are they in Joan’s house? There has been no mention for the whole week about baby-sitting next door. The Sunday strip showed Joan leaving Lucy with her to persuade her to take a bottle.

    Can’t afford to turn up the heat here…thermostat has.been at 65 all winter here in Michigan in the house.. Ya, it’s cold. Bundle up, put on that sweater.

    A doctor I knew, Dr. R, from my Florida Voc Rehab work had a golfing buddy who vacationed in the NC mountains in the summer. When he retired, he decided to move to NC. After two or three months, Dr. R ran into his buddy at the golf course.“I thought you had retired to North Carolina.”“I did, but it gets COLD up there in the winter!”
