sorry you’re mistaken. Just like the interwebs, Al Gore INVENTED climate change.

would someone find something for Al to do, he has to much time on his hands. Idle hands and all, you know , , ,

This beats the New Yorker Cartoon Contest hands down! The answers that win are usually lousy and the comics just too bizarre! (Can you hear the sour grapes from someone who has submitted numerous suggestions?)

Funny, the first snow storm the oil company men come out to say it disproves global warming and then the really early spring, the volcanic actions in Iceland, the sea level rising, the change in the gulf stream, these all count for nothing. Right. Al Gore didn’t develop the model that global warming is based on, but he makes a nice tart target to attack as the world crumbles. When it leads to a nuclear winter situation in America by changing the gulf stream, be sure to blame Al for not doing anything about it. I’m sure the yahoos will believe you then, too. if they can defrost their TVs.

I like the old cartoon of the two fellows crawling through the desert when one of them reaches up and grabs the horizon line…as good a meta-joke (and use of cartoon conventions) as the one here.

I sure like reading Non Sequitur in this forum. Our newspaper insists on squishing it into a tiny never changing box. Great idea for a cartoon today. I lean towards believing it’s the guy in the desert that is hallucinating. I haven’t seen mushers but I have seen bodies of water on the horizon that you can never get to.

I don’t think the dogsled one fits very well, but it does balance the picture. I’ve seen dozens of stranded in the desert and on little island cartoons, but I don’t recall any dogsled ones. If you see a picture of someone on a dogsled you assume he’s going somewhere, not stranded. Nevertheless, I’m willing to suspend disbelief and enjoy the joke. =]

How can the shark swim in shallow water around an island with a man? Shrink all of images into a rectangle box.

Dogsniff, I used “bastige” as an alternative to a probably bleepable word describing a fatherless person. The quote is from Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, is probably not exactly right, and is made by Hunter S. Thompson who is hallucinating at the time he says it. Obscure reference to be sure, but that’s the direction my mind wandered :-)

I guess the good that men do gets buried while one boast gets slammed in AL Gore’s face for political expediency. No one gives him credit for his relentless efforts in spreading the internet to schools and such as Vice President, we just take his exageration and hold that as our excuse for not believing in Climate Change. I guess believe what you wish…

The first Google hit for “bastige” is Urban Dictionary; “…someone extremely annoying but not worth wasting foul language on.”

    Sounds like Thompson, all right!

And on the politics side: You may or not believe the data about Climate Change, but we will all see it soon enough. So keep in mind the backing of the deniers, and their entrenched investment in Status Quo, which is going to be changing; that scares many people (Tea Partiers come to mind.)
