But, Baldo, Tía Carmen probably doesn’t know you’re on Facebook before you even deleted your own profile! (I have my father and stepmother on my Facebook list of friends although we don’t go to each pother’s profiles that often.)

Kids have been jumping off of FB due to the lack of privacy they expect but can not have. This just gives Baldo a reason to press the button.

You can delete your account, but what you put there is more than likely still out there.

I think it’s more an ageing issue – if his Tia’s on FB, it is not cool!

The thing is, wherever kids go – Twitter, Vine, Snapchat, Instagram – whatever comes next… the parents are sure to go. We made it a rule that our kids could only have accounts if we were friends/followers/etc. Now they’re grown, of course, so it’s more voluntary. But for minors – even having a device is / should be contingent on parental oversight.

Pressing the delete button only makes you feel like you’ve done something. If you have automatic logins to it, (eg using FB to login to a phone game) it reactivates your account.

Seriously, when my two older grandkids turned thirteen, their mom got them Facebook accounts. However, they’d DIE before they would ever use them. My son-in-law friended me because he wanted to show me something, but I try not to make my comments to him too tacky or numerous.
