Don’t most nuclear arming devices/systems require the Two Person Concept? Therefore, in this cartoon there should be two sets of keys!

Just ask Bush and Chaney. They have permenant copies. Either way, if missiles WERE headed for NYC, we’d all be dead regardless.

    Next inept, ignorant supposition?

    omQ R -

I think (hope) you’re right about needing two keys, separated from each other by about three meters (ten feet).

On the other hand, considering the bunch of clowns in charge, I think it might be safer this way… ;)

Incidentally we have early warning systems across the globe as well as satellites and jets deployable at a moment’s notice. Just the facts. But fear mongering works better when facts are inconvenient for Conservatives. Though facts typically are.

Though this could be talking about the “Nuclear Option” (when Democrats use it) as opposed to the “Constitutional Option” (the same option, except when Republicans use it – and they use it more often).

Fear mongering works both ways. Vote for this party and they’ll take your guns away! Vote for that party and they’ll take your social security, medicare, health care away! The health care one hasn’t been used yet, but it will be.

With enough nuke out there to eliminate all life on the planet two or three hundred times over, it certainly is silly to reduce the potential by 30%.

It makes no sense for iran to ‘nuke” Israel as they’re downwind most of the time. Now as Israel is UP wind, and already HAS nukes, I’d be a little more worried on that end.

Bruce: Quite right. While in Berlin a couple of weeks ago, we took a tour of a nuclear fallout shelter from the ’70s (in standby mode). Rather entertaining. The guide was rather frank about it all. Duck & cover indeed. People really don’t understand M.A.D. and our current reality is totally different to the Cold War scenario.

@Whatroughbeast - I prefer “Don’t vote for this party or they’ll take your rights and human dignity away.” …. LoL… Oh wait. http://is.gd/biPH9

me thinks those “Fallout Shelter” signs were there mainly to make people feel safer. After all, M.A.D. stands for Mutually Assured DESTRUCTION.

    @Jade

If you change that to “either” party, I’m down with it. I choose not to follow links in forums for obvious reasons (paranoia). I hope I didn’t miss anything important.

Didn’t happen in 60 years because people are just not that stupid. It’s like the Canadiens winning the Stanley Cup; hadn’t happen in an eternity and it won’t happen anytime soon because nobody in Montreal wants another riot, last time people rioted because the Habs went into the quarterfinals! (and nobody wants to get nuked themselves).

Using nukes are like Quebec separating from Canada, you get more by threatening others that you’ll go through with it than actually doing it.

Understandable. It’s just a link to a story about Bob McDonnell, Republican “I’m only about business” all star removing gay rights his first day in office. Nothing I haven’t posted before. ^.^

^^ Senor, I believe Tom Ridge was in on that foolishness, also.

My Secret Service buddy said the big laugh in D.C. town was if you followed their preparation steps fully, everyone in the “safe room” would suffocate anyway.

Tom Ridge said Pop Tarts were great to have in abundance in an “emergency”, because if there was a power outage, Pop Tarts were not all that bad w/o toasting….

And of course, Ashcroft made a move to cover Lady Justice’s breasts—he felt she was pornographic as she was….

Eight long years of such imbecility. Heckuva job, “W”!!
