I think that you can get a lot of burgers out of one cow. So, if you buy two dozen burgers and one of them is a mad cow one, there’s a high possiblity that so are (most of) the others.
BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalitis) was a very big deal when I was in Britain 20 years ago. Haven’t heard much about it since then.
