Eyjafjallajokull, yes, obviously Calvin loves winter (unless he just hoping to get more snow days off from school. As I read this, the scenes of snow and cold and talk of six more weeks of winter seem almost bizarre because I am in the tropics. This morning’s newspaper warned people that the chilly mornings (as low as 72 degrees F!) will continue for a few more days. That’s cold enough for me.
It looks to me as though different people are interpreting Calvin’s intentions differently. I wonder which idea was in Bill Watterson’s mind when he drew this.
Enjoy it while you can, kid – winter stops being fun when you get your first driver’s license (or old enough to shovel the sidewalk instead of your Dad…)
Snowing hard here,Wx calling for 14" of new cover, good luck even seeing a groundhog today. Ha,haa. Spring can NOT come soon enough for me,here in N.W. Massachusetts. :)
Spoken like a true grade schooler. I still love the snow and don’t usually even mind driving in it…it’s the ice BENEATH the snow that makes getting around hellish.
One day it took me two hours to drive 4 miles home from work three years ago, but it wasn’t the distance that was the problem. The snowplows hadn’t reached our streets and I got stuck three times trying to get to our house to park. I wasn’t humming “Let It Snow” THAT day.
Here in northern Kentucky, we haven’t had much snow to speak of. We got enough to shovel on November 17th, but not much since then. Any snow that comes our way has been going about 50 miles north of us or 30 miles south. I would love to have ONE good snow storm before winter is over…
I think Calvin wants winter to continue so he can continue to make his macabre snowmen.

At this point of the year, winter lasts 6 more weeks no matter what the weather is like. See ya at the spring equinox, which is 6 more weeks away.
I’m with Calvin, though. Summers where I live see temps often in excess of 40ºC. Roll on, winter, roll on.

I don’t see a groundhog, but I have a tree, with a laughing face and this one I saw today!

Those spotlights shining must be the ONLY way he saw his shadow today, ‘cause it’s cloudy as heck here in Pennsylvania.

He likes winter? Ehm…close the door, it’s cold outside!
I prefer the cold over the heat wave. The air is of better quality. However I can do without the ice and sleet.

Out here on the Oregon Coast winter hasn’t started yet. I wouldn’t mind skipping it this year.

The vernal equinox is March 20, closer to 7 weeks from today.
Here in Wisconsin that doesn’t really mean anything. Some of the worst winter storms I’ve ever seen have hit in March & April.
