Danae: I wrote a report on African tigers in record time! Ned: Uh...what research did you do? Danae: Oh, I just go with what I kinda know......It's a real time-saver. Ned: How about the time you'll spend doing it over because your presumption is wrong? Tigers aren't in Africa, Danae. Danae: Are you sure? Ned: Yes. Danae: Ok, ok...you don't have to be all preachy about it! Ned: Passing on correct information is "preachy"? Kate: Welcome to my world, Daddy.

Some news outlets have the same problem.

The theme continues: is Danae nature or nurture, you know, like Faux?
Varnes about 9 years ago
“Correct” information? Oh, that does change the degree of difficulty a bit….

Destined to be a journalist.Facts are used only when and if they can be used to support an existing opinion. All journalism informs opinion and attitudes even more than it informs general knowledge. The responsible journalist puts the shaping of opinion and attitude first, and seeks facts only when a cudgel is needed.

That may be a reaction to all the people who complained that Wiley was getting preachy over the vegan thing.

If I wanted correct I’d have studied science instead of journalism.

They should start calling her Facebook. I get the same reaction from my friends when they post something stupid.

But wait, Tarzan always fought off the tigers to save Jane. You mean (gasp) the TV folks lied to us kids?

Danae consulted the world’s expert on tigers: Hobbes.

So advice and/or comment is ‘preachy’? Gee, we like peachy better….what ya get when da report is correct. But Kate is right, we are out of their world.

Danae: Just use Find/Replace for either tigers/lions or Africa/Asia, but not both.
Godfreydaniel about 9 years ago
@palosKnowing Danae, her mis-placement of tigers was far from the only problem with her report, so a mere find/replace won’t solve the problem!

I did not know that… I’d have lost a bet if I had made one…Wow education…

No problem, just rewrite the report to redefine Africa and tiger.

If I draw a cartoon about tigers, will it attract people who tell me what to eat?

Welcome to my world as well. In my locality, the populist phrase is “Your Intelligence is not more important than my Ignorance!”
Truth.

No tigers in Africa (except zoos), but there is a sub-species of lion native to Asia. Sampson had a battle with one, but now they are almost entirely limited to some National Parks in India.

Have Calvin help you. Or better yet interview Hobbs along with your talking horse.

Very close. The answer we were looking for was “Dancing in the Ruins” by Blue Oyster Cult, from their 1985 Club Ninja album.

Bruno, Hmmm, What are the odds of Wiley reading Pearls Before Swine…?

Kveldulf: Plus the severe snowfall currently icing in the NE US is aggravated by the exceptionally warm waters of the Atlantic, creating a condition similar to the infamous lake-effect snow of Buffalo (warmer water evaporating more, putting more moisture into the atmosphere, which condenses in the cold air to form snow).
