The best take on this tragedy is, no surprise, Oliphant’s take. I hope this means he’s now back permanently (or at least as permanent as the solar system……)

If you’ve been on vacation, excellent; if you’ve been working on a project, I can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to.

Two IRA guys in a ’toon? Hmm only two decades late, mostly. Or are those UZI held by guys who go back to BCE for their “righteousness” button?

Simply put, ALL lives matter. Those who unjustly take life, or live in hypocrisy, WERE the targets of “Charlie”, not just Islam. THAT is why free speach shouldn’t turn “pc” to defend Christianity or Judaism (among other groups), and those folks in Paris caught flack from all sides they went after.

You continue to come up with these absolutely ridiculous statements, ima lives.

Yknow…the more I read about the two brothers still being sought for this crime, the more they remind me of the two brothers who carried out the Boston Marathon bombings. Different package, same contents

You don’t have to be Muslim to be gutless murderers: what about Timothy McVeigh? The IRA? Military drones?

The West is waging war in the Middle East by remote control, having learned that dead G.I.s make bad headlines. We have thrown up walls around ourselves so that only our own disaffected citizens can attack us. Thus our death toll is still less than 0.1% of what we have inflicted.

Who are the cowards? Look at the comments here and judge for yourselves.

Doesn’t it seem a little silly to claim that “Islam” grabbed a gun? First of all, Islam is an idea, it can’t pick up anything. Secondly, mentally deranged people from all religions have committed thousands of atrocities in the name of said religion. Thirdly, the sociopaths that act in this manner are not really representatives of their professed religions anyway and are always, as in this case, repudiated by the actual practicing members of the religion. Getting facts straight is a part of being on the left politically. Nothing dumb about that! Knee jerk reactionary statements like yours, however, do not reflect well on the intelligence of the person(s) who wrote them.

BillH77 is correct to call out masterskrain for dumb comment about Huckabee and the U.S. constitution. This cartoon and its subject are not related to that at all.

Milesbw posted that the USA sending missiles against people who mean to kill us is worse than people who hold a gun to a woman’s head, force her to type in the security code, and murder 12 people for publishing a cartoon.

Huckabee is the same as people who murder in the name of Allah…What can you say about “krain”? Liberalism is a mental disorder.

A lot has happened since we last heard from you, Mr. Oliphant. But us, and the rest of this world will keep you as busy as you want to be. Good to have you back!

I know my feelings about Islam rest on slippery ground. On the one hand, I do not want to judge every muslim a terrorist. Yet, from two friends who spent time in the mid-east, I listened to their first-hand accounts about what they had seen, and in conversing with Islamists, Israelis, Palestinians, and Saudis. One spent two tours of duty in Saudi Arabia, as an observer and military adviser.He told me about incidents which are regular occurances outside Ridyah; violent treatment of women and just plain, grim hatred. Yes, he tells me; the common Saudi truly adheres to everything in the Quran, and they do not like Christians and (worse) Jews. Another told me about the atmosphere in the rural areas in Israel, where he worked as a technician for a year. Now, this certainly does not make me an expert on Mid-East affairs. But when I add their testimonies to what I read in newspapers and magazines, see on news shows (including PBS), there is little to dispel my suspicions..During man’s short history, certain groups (ethnic, nationalist or religious) may enter a period when a feeling, perhaps a fever, begins to run through their minds, that their time is at hand. The Greeks,Chinese, Romans, French, Germans, Americans have had their moments when their thought become one, and that destiny, their place in the sun, beckons them. Some fade away, some have to be resisted, and put down. Napoleon, Kaiser William II, Hitler. Britain and the U.S. had their “Sun never sets on the Empire” and Manifest Destiny. Many people who get in the way are “dealt with”. I see two emerging cults on the rise. Islam, and Corporatism. Both are being driven from within. As I posted before, I think this century will get increasing difficult for the Western white man. Many of our past sins will come home to roost. Our indiscriminate use of drones is not helping. Our own corporations are not only sucking most of us Americans dry, but do the same outside our borders. Many of these companies that relocated operations into lesser countries do so with even less regard for the local population than they might at home. Remember Union Carbide’s pesticide plant disaster in Bohpal, India? Or our shipping hazardous waste products to China and other nations? Our children will have to be educated, enlightened, patient and brave, in trying to deal with our neighbors on this planet.In the meantime, I try to limit my comments on this subject. I do not want to stir up hatred toward the Islamic community. And, I am reading many of your posts. Thanks for reading.

Only the Bible, in Leviticus, calls for killing “blasphemers”, is this what Huckabee wants for America? It appears so. btw: there is NO penalty in the Quran for blasphemers, and latter day NON-beleivers in the Quran who kill innocents, and call for killing those blasphers are indeed NOT following the relligion of Mohammed, or his laws, which, Sharia is just the old testament, with some of the most violent actions actuallly REMOVED! Sharia as today DOES “suck”, but it IS biblical.

Even McVeigh attacked a government target. .That was not a government target. It was a building full of civilians doing civilian work. And children. Sheesh.
