Ouch. Until the free paper I’ve been getting on the porch for the past few weeks goes away, online is the only way I get my comics. RT is probably upset with ALL of us.

The wonderful world of the only colored section of the newspaper, the Sunday Funnies, I remember them well. And I too got ink all over my hands. (It was part of the ritual.)

They finally took Doonsbury off the opinion section and put it back where it belongs. To do this, they put Ziggy on the business page . Why couldn’t they put Mary Worth and Rex Morgan on the society page and have room for Cul de Sac?

Eating breakfast at the keyboard while reading Gocomics is a time honored American tradition whose origins stretch back to Washington Irving’s “History of New Jersey” This rare edition can be obtained for $45.95 from soyouthinkyou’reagenius.com

I was a small town paperboy who lived for the Sunday funnies. This was the old days when the comics were big, colorful and plentiful—and the TVs were few, small, and black and white.

Now here I am, getting my online funnies-fix before turning on my 37” LCD TV for the day.

    I miss being a paperboy.

getting the comics online isn’t so bad.. at least ya don’t have to wade through all the depressing news to get to em.

I’ll often pull out one of my collection books to read and have a laugh over breakfast if there isn’t a paper or keyboard nearby

I still read the morning paper, and any strip that I CAN read there, I do. I use the online sites for those which I can’t read as ink on paper, the way God intended.

I’m rethinking that, though. Obviously, when I read the funnies on the funny pages, there aren’t comment threads. What do they talk about over at “Get Fuzzy” or “Pearls Before Swine”? I have no idea…

The slimeball spammer said “Echocardiography action ” FREE sHIPPING!!! ”

An echocardiogram, often referred to in the medical community as a cardiac ECHO or simply an ECHO, is a sonogram of the heart (it is not abbreviated as ECG, which in medicine usually refers to an electrocardiogram). Also known as a cardiac ultrasound, it uses standard ultrasound techniques to image two-dimensional slices of the heart. The latest ultrasound systems now employ 3D real-time imaging.

I think this spam thing has been run through some sort of cheap translation program with predictably hilarious results ..lol

I read comics online because I can’t make out the tiny printed versions. Although I do get Sunday Cul de Sac with my Sun-Times.

I buy the newspaper, because that’s how most of the news gathering and syndicated features are paid for. When everyone stops buying papers, a lot of these strips aren’t going to be here.

Petey’s lucky. That stuff happens here every day.

Remember when the comics in the papers were big enough to read without a magnifying glass? If they get any smaller I will have to wear 3 pair of glasses:-P

Let’s see… The Cul de Sac Times carries strips featuring (at least on this day) a dog who looks like a squirrel, another with a cat, one with an ugly baby, one with a prominent sandwich, and one with alligators.

Assuming that what Alice takes for gators might in fact be crocs, I’d hazard a guess that “Pearls Before Swine” and “Blondie” are represented. Ugly babies and (uglier) cats are endemic, but since Alice can actually tell the difference between the two I’d eliminate “Marvin” and “Garfield”. And of course there are innumerable strips featuring dogs, but I can’t think of one that might be mistaken for a squirrel.

Where I live, we only have a weekly paper… and they don’t have a decent funny section, so I always get my comic fix online.

RT, do you have any idea whether this project might also have inspired today’s “Fusco Brothers”?

It’s always been impossible to get JUST all my favorites on one paper (or even site) - Most of what I read on WaPo are from King Syndication (and 3 more on the local paper which are not on WaPo - Between Friends, Rhymes with Orange and Mother Goose.
