Their union will protect them from an over zealous mayor and hopefully annoying political cartoonists like Matt Bors.

“And even more honest Blacks citizens will be killed by thug black criminals because of the Lefty NYC Mayor.”You say that as if black on black violence excuses police on citizen violence.

Would their Grand Dragon been elected if his name were Smith instead of Lynch?

Maybe that was the problem in the first place. Too many cops with nothing to do. If the place is getting along just fine without killing people for selling single cigarettes, maybe the police force should be cut down to the point where they have enough to do that is actually important.

So . . . where’s the sharp uptick in violent crime in NYC?

Still waiting for it. You’d think Fox News would be gleefully reporting it, but . . . hmm, silence.

Does anyone know how much of a financial hit the city is taking because of the reduction in fines?

Everyone is a perp. It’s just the cop’s job to figure out what they are guilty of.

There is an issue here NOT being discussed — which is that NYC is using fines on minor issues as a revenue stream. That discussion SHOULD be had, but probably won’t be, because the cops are demanding absolute 100% loyalty and obedience (to which neither they, nor anyone else, is entitled). One suggestion was that this “slowdown” is to punish the city. Frankly, it’s not really making them look better!

The real issue is that over decades, the law books have swollen with revenue producing laws, and the cops have been told to enforce ’em, not just in New York. When policing becomes just armed toll collectors, it damages the public, and defies the very purpose of “law”.

^Actually, wrong. While the term “homicide” refers only to death caused by another person, there was adequae proof that Garner’s physical condition PRIOR to his arrest was the cause of his death, there was NO damage to the trachea, which would have been, choked. Also didn’t find anything relative to pitecheal hemorraging as would be found in “strangulation”. Garner was DEFINITELY breathing and talking, AFTER the take down hold was released. It’s right there on the videos, including the EMT later takinng him away while BREATHING and with a pulse! Again, it needs to be pointed out the officers DID place him in “coma position” and kept checking he was breathing.

Also critiques of wow, a whole SEVEN MINUTES for EMTs to arrive and cart him off! In my years in law enforcement, and where I live now, 30-60 miunutes would be the absolute minimum time required for EMTs TO ARRIVE, let alone treat and get back to a hospital or advanced care.

Amecia, the land of idiots and fools, so well informed by “Faux” and TV shows that are both FICTIONS!

Google NYC CompStat Scandal and decide for yourself.

The NYC numbers game on arrests and crime is completely bogus. Nobody knows if crime is up or down because the police department misclassifies crime whenever they can get away with it.

Can’t find stat for police violence, however given recommendations on police websites for crowd control it appears there still is no shortage of the desire for some hippy ass whopping.

That and no knock raids, SWAT teams have gone up dramatically over the past decade.

Crime on the other hand is down. It always does disappoint to see so many people talk about the good old days when we are at some of the lowest levels of violence in over a century.

However given that crime has dropped across the board in both Tough and Soft on crime areas, has dropped internationally amount western countries it can be hard to separate cause and effect

I happen to follow the trend first of unwed mothers, later of the acceptance of unwed mothers/split families. When the first shot up in the 70’s & 80’s crime shot up with it. Later on as being from a split family became acceptable crime went down.

Overall it is good to appreciate where we are. However the target should be at improving even father.
