At least you are keeping an open mind about the issue and not judging hastily as most do ….

Pure communism was tried (and failed miserably) in America.

What we see today in Cuba and North Korea are dictatorships disguised as communism. The churches, especially in the south, show the true spirit of pure communism, by collect donations and helping the needy in ways the local governments are unable to.

People of the “Great Generation” would argue with your statement vehemently, but then you are certainly not either a part of that generation, or a student of American History either.

Of the four presidents whose faces appear on Mt. Rushmore; One was not a member of any party in Washington (in fact he warned future generations of Americans agaisnt such parties), one would qualify as a liberal Democrat in Jefferson, and two (including Lincoln who most historians consider to be our greatest president) Republicans in Teddy Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. Amazingly, I think the authoities got all of that correct, even if you dismiss it. The “greatest Generation” however would have nominated Franklin Roosevelt for a fifth greatest president, and anaother such head on that truly great monument. And being a recipient of such an essential middle class elderly sustaining program as social security (as are tens of millions of other hard working middle class Americans who not only receive benifits, but also payed into that excellent system for those benifits) I would be very happy to submit my own vote. And FDR, like Lincoln saw this country through one of the two greatest and most calamitous of our many justifyable wars.

However, I do consider both Democrat John F. Kennedy (expecially for his great and excellent support of our space program and NASA) and Republican Dwight D. Eisenhower (who would still have been a great man in history had he never even been president at all) to have been very good presidents, again as do many historians.

Besides, many of our ultra consevatives here would probably have castigated Kennedy for even avoiding war with the USSR over Cuba, just as many of the same also castigate Obama for opening up better realtions with that present country. And as the present very truly Christian Pope supports such a move, then I consider such opinions to be just a lot of pure hot air!!!

Watching in amazement as the Republicans continue fighting to hold us back as so many other countries continue to advance their scientific work and maintain and advance their infrastructures. (Do you realize how many bridges we have that are ready to collapse? Do you know we have the slowest “high speed” railroad route (singular) of any first world country in the world?)

“During the Cuban Missle crisis, we averted total nuclear war through the courage of John F. Kennedy, the only President worthy of the title that the Democrats have ever produced.”Dude, Kennedy helped cause the Cuban missile crisis with the trade embargo and the failed Bay of Pigs invasion. The Americans already had hundreds of missiles in Europe pointed at the Soviets. The Soviets attempted to send the Cubans missiles to point at the US, most likely to deter the US from attempting another invasion. Since the US blockade stopped the Soviets from sending missiles to Cuba, they just put more effort into developing missiles that can hit the US from the USSR.
