Girls liked Charlie Brown in the early days of “Peanuts.” I think there was one strip in which Patty and Violet argued about who would marry him and even Lucy had sort of a crush on him for a short time. I grew up with the “Peanuts” strips of the Sixties and Seventies but always liked the Fifties version because they were less cynical.
