    Actually the murder (and crime rates in general) have been declining over the last fifty years. Google it and you will see it is basically safer today than any time in the last five decades. What has changed is the news entertainment industry. Now there is constant coverage of dramatic murders anywhere in the world and they pound away at them until the next one comes along. The highest murder rate is black on black in poor communities.

    OK, I have no general problem with what you are saying, but to use such statistics against EITHER political party just does not work for me. Perhaps I should have made myself clearer in that, sorry!
