Well, Bur’s right on that one. There’s nothing so expensive as “free!”BTW, I have just this minute finished a most wonderful book, “1861 The Civil War Awakening” by Adam Goodheart. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in that period and how it has ramifications today.

You will notice that now all their clothes will be limp and lifeless. But soft. Which is a good thing considering how cheap their clothes are. Dolly’s Discount Duds doesn’t carry the best in blouses and it takes a lot of softener to remove the scratch. And since they don’t get washed very often, soft is the only way you can wear them. “Stiff with dirt” isn’t just a saying, you know.

Let’s see….Joy doesn’t use softener in the towels cos they get less absorbent…The sheets get washed with the towels, so they miss getting softened…As 2Old says, the clothes go… let’s say “a few times” between washings…

And when she does use softener, she uses half the recommended amount cos she knows they always tell you to waste it, so it runs out faster,

So it works out to about half a cup a week….2 cups a month, a quart in two months..Is it the good news or the bad news that those “gallon” jugs are only 100 ounces now, instead of 128?So she “only” bought a five year supply of expensive brand name softener, instead of almost seven…and it’ll be that much sooner she can go back to half price knock-offs… or the dollar store brand.

Looks like there was once a smiley face ‘find it’ on this strip. It looks kind of out of place on the top shelf…

Our dryer died, so we line dry our clothes (during warmer months anyways) and things do feel “abrasive” if fabric softener isn’t used.

My dryer is fine, but I choose not to use it. I like to dry on the line and never use softener either. I have no problem with anything being too scratchy (I wash with Tide Free & Gentle) and we usually have a breeze.

I once bought 2 or 3 Ts in different colors of a silk noil that was so scratchy I could not wear them even over a blouse. I tried soaking in nothing but softener overnight, but no good (had to donate them) hopefully for someone with less sensitive skin.

….I foresee a rip-roaring, nail-bitin’ future appearance on “Let’s Make A Deal”. And they wouldn’t have to go to expense crafting goofy costume to wear on the show: they wear goofy costumes every day!!
