Doctor: Whew, that was quite a battle, but we finally got those stitches in. Doctor: Now you'll need a cone collar so the wound has a chance to heal. Doctor: Hmm, looks like we're all out of small-dog cones. Medium-dog ones too… Let's see… Doctor: Sometimes you need a little something extra to get through the day.

About 20 years ago, our dog Teddy needed the “Cone of Shame” himself. And he was all but gentle with it. He had the habit of walking close to walls and fences, so whenever we took him out, his cone would rattle, bang and hit those walls and fences. Especially chainlink fences and picket fences. Also going through doorways was rather noticable. At the end the cone was so torn, dented and ripped the vet merely tossed it away.

I bet the vet really had the proper size cone but Poncho is such a trouble maker that he decided to get even with him.
