Don’t forget to stick a pointy hat on her head and a carrot on her nose, so you’ll know she’s a witch.

Wow! I guess there’s no incubation period for Ebola! It’s not dangerous at all! Thanks, wise cartoonist!

Ya know, for a guy who likes to rip on Republican talking points, he swallows the most insane ones from his side without question.

Christie’s losing weight— he’s not the “Outlaw Jersey Whale” he used to be (stolen from tbogg).

No, you aren’t contagious before developing symptoms. Got a scientifically credible reference for that? I thought not.No, it’s not true that anything less than a 21-day quarantine is dangerous. A 21-day monitoring period is warranted, I imagine, to see if quarantine becomes worthwhile. My understanding is that your understanding about tests for contamination is a misunderstanding. Maybe not in Liberia but we have better equipment in the US.Despite your apologetics for hysteria, the fact remains that Ebola is not very infectious and not very dangerous, as has been pointed out above. Last I heard, there were nine cases in the US, seven of them contracted abroad, the other two contracted while caring for the first patient. That patient died; of the rest, seven have recovered and one is under treatment. The present hysteria seems to be fueled by cynical media for higher ratings and lying scum for political gain. You should not associate yourself with them.

Ebola has a high fatality rate in Africa in large part because of the lack of enough early supportive hospital care; if you can’t keep up with replacing the lost bodily fluids, the patient quickly gets worse and dies. I don’t know why Thomas Eric Duncan died, but he had serious symptoms for a few days before starting treatment. Ebola is a lot like cholera was for Europe and North America in the 1800’s.

The World Health Organization says:“Humans are not infectious until they develop symptoms.”.Tom Frieden, CDC Director, says:“The evidence suggests that Ebola only spreads from sick people — not from people who have been exposed to the disease but haven’t yet become sick from it. The illness has an average 8-10 day incubation period, although in rare instances the incubation period may be as short as two days or as long as 21 days, which is why we recommend monitoring for 21 days after any potential exposure.People are not contagious during that incubation period; they become contagious only when they start having symptoms.”.Where do you get your information?

Where is my world-ending epidemic? I was promised that Obama was inviting infected child-agents of ISIS across our borders and deliberately allowing Americans to receive medical treatment in America (…unheard of!!) in the hopes of wiping out the White Race with a super-selective strain of Ebola! And it didn’t happen! Obama is so incompetent, he can’t even fulfill the insane conspiracies the GOP makes up about him!

“Oh, and you are contagious before symptoms appear.”

That’s pure ignorance or willful deceit. Pick one.

Well said, Tree song. If I were in Guinea or somewhere else where Ebola was an epidemic right now, I’d be pretty afraid. But here, so far, there has been very little impact, due to the medical resources we have (early mistakes not withstanding). I wish the people (left and right) broadcasting non-scientific hysteria would try checking the facts first, because some people really are in panic-mode.
