Far more so than violations through “signing statements” to perform “line item veto”- or starting wars- or the “Patriot Act” or “Military Commissions Act”. It will be interesting to see if we can get legitimate court review of several laws in the last ten years or so.

The Constitution is more important then the Flag.

The Flag is a symbol of America.

    The Constitution is America.

Yet the Far Right and the GOP goes nuts when a flag is damaged, and ignore the damage that Cheney/Bush did to the Constitution.

“we the people” got him elected, so apparently someone wanted healthcare done. What part about it is supposed to be unconstitutional, anyway?

How many laws are on the books? Millions? How many laws are actually covered in the constitution? Probably not that many. I doubt the Founding Fathers intended or assumed they had the wisdom and foresight to anticipate all the legislation that would be required to govern a modern country several hundred years hence.

The Founding Fathers wrote a document that they knew would need to be updated. How did they miss the FCC, ICC, FTC , FDA etc. We are overdue to do an overhaul of how we go foward as a country but the current political climate does not allow the reasonable discourse needed.

It’s constitutional, folks. Deal with it. The first occasion when the government required citizens to buy something was the Militia Act signed by Washington in 1792. Seventeen-ninety-two. The Republic didn’t collapse then, it won’t now.

Lord, there was a lot of sound from the Left when Obama signed the extension… maybe the Tiger Woods scandal was busy with your attention!

Both Nixon and Bush have claimed that anything the president does is constitutional. In this case, they don’t think anything THIS particular president does is constitutional. And they thought consensual sex between adults was a “high crime and misdemeanor” the last time a Democrat was in the White House. So, torture is okay, but oral sex is a crime. Unless it involves someone with a wide stance. No wonder Constitutional scholars have to go to school so long …

HOW - The Constitution is the only thing standing between you and that “Big Government” that you fear so much.

As I have said, go back a few years and read the Paitorite Act and you will see that Big Government owns you, it just hasn’t come for you yet.

And yes, both GOP and DEMS voted for it, but that still doesn’t make it right, the GOP were the ones who created it, and they have used it.

Reading some of “W”s Executive Orders citing “Constitutional authority” got really hilarious at times, as the orders totally violated Constitutional restraints on the president.

Meh, poor poll numbers didn’t do squid for Bush (for several years) and the Iraq war, and now Obama is an autocrat because his approval rating falls under 50%

    Right.
