Standard response here is for the guy to apologize and promise never to hit her again until the next time. Followed by the woman apologizing for going to far and saying something that she doesn’t mean. And for the kid to run up, tell them to both stop fighting and blame himself for the situation. However, I think the back-up plan is for mom to kidnap the kid and run away and for dad to thank her for taking the initiative in solving everyone’s problems while clearing the way for a new trophy wife.

Also, Helena isn’t the egg inspector you’re looking for.

There doesn’t seem to be much love in Lizardtown, but hate seems pretty strong.

In egg-laying species like birds and reptiles, the female is usually larger than the male, so she’s not at a disadvantage in a fight. They’re both realizing that their community is dying. I think her husband is in the “denial” stage of grief, where she’s in the “anger” stage.

I’d like to revise my statement. This community isn’t circling the drain, it’s already in the sewer, on the way to the sewage treatment plant.

Dress-up….game? That’s an interesting comment. How much of what we’ve seen of this colony is part of this “game”? Who is being “gamed”? I think we’ll be leaving the colony before much longer. This could explain why he wanted to let the Wally Party go. He expected Chic could go with them. But the cook still wants revenge on Wally. And I have a bad feeling about what’s in store for Jim Raccoon.

@ComicsDad5 @DocNero I’ve always believed that silence implies agreement, so…It also lets others who might also not agree feel like they aren’t in the minority.

Not relevant to today’s strip but I’m curious how those enormous tails fit into trousers and how they manage sitting on chairs as we’ve seen them do.

That would explain why the fearless leader wanted to release Wally. He would gladly do anything to get undesirables out of lizardtown, possible exception of returning stolen valuables.Many of the medieval trappings of this society have practical advantages. The loose clothing style is easy to sew and doesn’t require much, if any tailoring. The low tech lighting requires less infrastructure. The use of swords as primary weapons saves the guns (presuming they work) and amo (presuming they have it) for serious things like colony defense or banditry. It also limits the ability of one person, or a small group of people to defy the will of the majority. Oh, and Flask’s hair was much longer.

Nabuq’- The saddest things about your post is that you likely believe it. But it smells like it came right out of the crackpot “men’s rights” propaganda play book. Not to say that woman on man domestic violence doesn’t happen, but the exaggerated emphasis is used to obscure or excuse the overwhelming majority (likely more than 80%) of man on woman domestic violence.

I’m not liking the direction this is going….. it certainly is setting the stage for something big……..

Bruno- I’m not familiar with the study and would need more/better to draw anything from it. However, “starting it” leaves the act out of any context, and is then being used as a rationale for any subsequent escalation of violence by the man. Certainly, the final body count shows that women, regardless as tho who started it, are the overwhelming losers, so men, by and large, are hardly the ultimate victim here.

FINALLY a sympathetic member of this insane colony! I remember the milk trial at Endtown, they thought it was wrong to eat their own eggs and milk, even if it meant throwing away a viable food supply. These people are the other extreme, they eat almost nothing BUT their own eggs, but have no qualms about eating the fertilized ones, essentially making their next meal an abortion, even worse they don’t abort the egg until it develops enough that they can tell if its a reptile or not, given what we saw when they were using the candle back there, it’s pretty much nearly all the way to being a full fledged baby at that point.

IT really doesn’t matter what side your on, some people just don’t know when to shut-up and do what’s necessary! And although I don’t really approve of a violent confrontation, some people who think they are above physical repercussions… just don’t-know-when-to- SHUT-UP!

Well, that should get the ball rolling. Queen Helena and Sarah can now become the Dynamic Duo.

I can’t believe there are people here defending the man hitting the woman by saying that women hit men. And no, silence would not have implied agreement. If no one else had said anything, he would have probably taken the hint and gone away while others realized that there are things truly beneath discussion. He may have just been trying to stir the pot and be enjoying the controversy, but in my experience, it’s the reaction these people get that they feel gives them legitimacy.

Bringing up the woman hits man aspect is, ultimately, a distraction tactic to pull the conversation away from the vast majority of man hits woman violence. Nabuq’ seems to be a troll for Outrage Politics, his various posts might as well be cutting and pasting various talking points from the Furious Fringe.

Well at least ONE of these lizards is sane.

This society reminds me of S.M. Stirling’s novels of “The Change” where members of the Society for Creative Anachronism survive a world collapse by setting up their own version of feudalism.

Sorry, folks… but as a guy that has tolerated being constantly insulted by a wife which I love to a fault and have my observations and comments distorted to validate her hateful commentary against herself and then having the nerve to blame others for her childish tirades practically every day… well, eventual the emotional scars from this mental abuse builds up. I don’t condone spousal abuse or violence… but I can now understand what sometimes happens and why, when a woman thinks she can say and do whatever she pleases whenever she feels like it; and also thinks society will be on her side. This is a painful subject, and unless you have been on the receiving end from an abusive female for a couple years… I’ll just say I’m standing with Nab on this one.

Looks to me like there is dissention in the colony.There are those in support of what they do and those apparently not in support. How many remains to be seen.It won’t be a war with the other mutants that destroy this colony. It will be the war brewing within the colony that will destroy it at least as it stands now.Sarah may be last lizard standing. She will have the colony all to herself. If she can protect the eggs she will have a new colony. She has some support.

I can’t say I’m comfortable with the arguments trying to justify beating a woman to make her shut up.

Wait, Lizard Queen is named Helena? And the people, so to speak, are emulating the First Roman Empire style? Ooh, tell me Caesar’s name here is Constans. That would mean Chic’s name might be Constantine, and through treachery of Helena, Chic might become Emperor. Naa.
