Then they’ll bitch they need to be armored to withstand rpgs and IEDs. Defense contractors will get a million bucks each to produce them. Congress will get their kickbacks and everyone will be happy including the Iranians whose contractors will be making penetrators. Whee!

Under “W”, a lot of “troops” were doing “interesting things” in a number of countries, shooting and getting shot at, but were NOT considered in combat because the actions were covert. Interesting that when these folks were injured, mentally or physically, the Pentagon said their injuries were NOT “combat related”, thus keeping the cost away from the military and dumping it on over-stressed VA.

Boots on the ground thus DOES mean only officially “combat” brigades and units, not the thousands of troops advising etc.. This is NOT just Obama, it’s been going on for decades. Like, guys I knew who were in Nam years before I was (66-67) weren’t considered in combat, even when they got their legs blown off, etc…

Which, Al Jazeera America on “The Stream”, just had an EXCELLENT program with actual informed, intelligent people discussing the current problem with Vets, VA, the drug makers, and Pentagon, affecting these returning veterans. Amazing, amazing to see intelligent discussion with actual experts, rather than “Limbots” vs “Libs” arguing with each other loudly, when NEITHER HAS A CLUE what they’re tallking about.
