Woman: What's with jacking up my premiums by 40%??
Medical Coverage
Insurance Co.
Insurance Co.
Insurance Man: Someone has to pay for our campaign against health insurance reform...
Someone has to pay for all those useless stinking tests that the Dr.s give you because of all the frivolouse lawsuits and lack of tort reform.
Their still only makeing about 2-3% profit.
Evil huh?
Business is business, if you aren’t making a profit it;s not a business and, as you can see, Health Care is a really, really big business and, therefore deserves really, really big profits.
Also do you have any idea what a lobbyist costs? To say nothing of what of what a Congessman costs.
Republi-cons have no real suggestions on how to DO “tort reform”.
It is necessary- like having a peer reviewed “grand jury” review claims, and making LAWYERS PAY 100% of court cost if their frivolous suits fail. (Do NOT try to kid me that all tort lawyers are “libs”- get real!)
Who says the profits from increased fees are more than about 6% of what they spend lobbying for HUGE returns on the investment?
There is NOTHING WRONG WITH LEGITIMATE CAPITALISM LEADING TO LEGITIMATE PROFITS- it is the OUTRAGEOUS profits they cover up with phony “costs” that make them “crooks”- but Nixon had the comment on that!
Missed the point, davesmithsit. Besides the fact that your numbers are wrong (insurance companies have more money to spend than any other industry - note the biggest buildings in many American cities), the real point is that they insert themselves between Americans and their healthcare, and do so inefficiently - ten times the costs of Medicare, for example. I’d be happy for them to make 2% profit – if they really did – if they didn’t also reduce the quality of American healthcare. And I have my facts in hand here, thanks; ask any healthcare industry organization.
Motive- when Rex Ellsworth, owner of Swaps was asked when the horse broke it’s leg if Swaps was insured, Rex responded, “No. Every time I look at those big buildings on Wilshire Blvd owned by insurance companies, I ask myself, Why should I pay for another one?”
trout - yep. Here in Boston the two tallest buildings – by far – are: The John Hancock building and the Prudential Tower. The first major building was the old John Hancock. Yep.

But the government isn’t a business and the taxpayers aren’t shareholders.
